Toddlerville Daily Schedule

The Toddlerville schedule follows the same order each day, however the times may vary. As much time as possible is dedicated to free choice of activities by the children.

7:30-9:15 Children and parents are greeted as they arrive. Information regarding children is shared between the educator and parents.
Free Play – children choose from various areas to play including creative, sensory activities, shelf toys, dramatic play, and book centre. These activties allow the children to practise skills from all 5 domains of the ELECT Document.
Snack is available for a portion of this time. Children who wish to have snack wash their hands prior to sitting at the table.
9:15-9:30 Educator checks diapers.
Prior to going outside, children in underwear and learning to use the toilet use the washroom at this time.
Prepare for outdoor play – tidying up the room and dressing. Children and educators work together to put the toys away. Children are encouraged to work to dress themselves (putting on shoes, boots, coats…)
9:30-10:30 Outdoor play – including riding toys, balls, sandbox, play house. During inclement weather, gross motor activities occur inside.
10:30-10:40 Prepare for indoor play including washing hands and washroom routine. Children are encouraged to work to change their shoes and undress for indoor play.
10:40-11:35 Free play – children choose different areas to play including creative, sensory activities, shelf toys,
dramatic play, and book centre.
Group activities may occur during this time; children may join or continue to play.
Diaper routine and washroom routine
One of the educators washes the table for lunch and gets the dishes ready.
11:35 – 11:40 When lunch arrives at the centre, children begin to wash hands and sit at the table. As time allows, one educator sets out the beds for sleep time.
11:40 Children sit at one large table as a family. Educators prepare the plates and glasses of milk or water.
Older children use a cup without a lid. When the plates are ready the group sings “Hungry Hungry”.
Educators sit at the table with the children encouraging conversation and modelling positive social interactions.
12:15 – 12:30 As children finish eating, they proceed to the washroom to wash their hands and face. Children in underwear and learning to use the toilet use the washroom at this time. They then lay down on their beds and are tucked in for a rest.
12:30 – 2:30 Rest time. Quiet music plays in the background while children sleep. Educators use this time to fill in children’s daily sheets and document chilrens’ learning.
2:30 – 3:00 As children wake, they either use the toilet or have their diapers changed. As they rise, they also engage in quieter free play activities while their peers wake.
3:00 – 3:15 Prepare for outdoor play – tidying up the room and dressing. Once again, independence in dressing is encouraged.
3:15 – 3:50 Outdoor play – including riding toys, balls, sandbox, play house. During inclement weather, gross motor activities occur inside.
3:50 – 4:00 Prepare for indoor play including washing hands and washroom routine.
4:00 – 6:00 Free Play – children choose different areas to play including creative, shelf toys, dramatic play, and book centre
